Cure SMA Welcomes the Georgia Chapter

Cure SMA is pleased to announce the creation of a new chapter in Georgia! Located in Albany, GA, the chapter is excited to begin helping families throughout their state and fundraising to support research to find a treatment and a cure for SMA.

Ashley Jones, Vice-President, has been crucial in starting this chapter, along with her fellow officers:  Rio Landa, President, Casey Alexander, Treasurer, and Sherry Manross, Secretary.

When asking Ashley why she chose to create a chapter in Georgia she said, “I wanted to start the Georgia Chapter of Cure SMA because I know how helpless I felt getting the diagnosis of SMA and not having anywhere to turn. Even with great resources like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, there was nothing specific for SMA that was easily accessible or a support for families in the area. Now there is and I hope we’re able to help newly diagnosed families!”

Cure SMA has 30 Chapters throughout the United States, and over 70,000 members and supporters.  Through these Chapters, our organization is able to provide local family support to thousands of families each year affected by SMA.  Along with family support, Chapters also raise awareness about SMA throughout their local community and coordinate numerous fundraisers to advance SMA research.
