Thank you to our amazing Chapter Leaders and SMA families who spend countless hours planning these wonderful fundraising events in support of finding a treatment and a cure for spinal muscular atrophy.
Together, we hosted over 32,300 participants at 222 events raising over $3.7 Million to help fund new SMA research and crucial family support programs. This year, Cure SMA funded $2.5 Million in new SMA research. This funded seven new basic research grants along with two new drug discovery programs. This bring us to 15 programs within our drug development pipeline, three of which are currently in clinical trials today. We also continue in our efforts to support families through our informational Care Series booklets which many of which have been recently updated, medical equipment pool, newly diagnosed care packages and The Annual SMA Conference.
Overall, we have had a great year for our Walk-n-Roll Program with 46 held through the country along with 21 dinner events, 27 golf tournaments, and numerous other fundraisers which brought SMA families together to raise funds and awareness while connecting with each other. It is because of these amazing SMA families, that we are able to provide the level of support and reach huge milestones in our SMA research progress.
We also had a couple of our long-standing events reach major landmarks for their events including the 10th Annual Northern California Walk-n-Roll, the 10th Annual Alabama Walk-n-Roll, the 20th Annual Tampa Maluko Golf Classic, the 10th Annual OKI Chapter Walk-n-Roll, the 10th Annual PA Chapter Cure SMA Walk-n-Roll, and the 10th Annual Rocky Mountain Golf Tournament.
