Fall 2015 Issue of Compass Highlights SMA Researcher Meeting

The latest issue of Compass, our research publication, is now available online.

This fall 2015 issue covers our 2015 SMA Researcher Meeting. The researcher meeting is held each year as part of our Annual SMA Conference. It is the largest research meeting in the world focused on SMA, where about 300 basic researchers, drug developers, and clinicians come together to share new findings.

The goal of the SMA Researcher Meeting is to create open communication of early, unpublished scientific data, accelerating the pace of research. The meeting also furthers research by building productive collaborations. Importantly, since the meeting is part of our Annual SMA Conference, researchers have the chance to interact with, learn from, and educate families affected by SMA.

This issue includes several research-related highlights from the Annual SMA Conference and SMA Researcher Meeting:

  • Learn about the new clinical trial education materials that were released at conference
  • Read an update from a panel covering six of the SMA drug programs currently being tested in clinical trials
  • See how pharmaceutical companies are using the SMA Researcher Meeting to release new clinical trial data
  • Explore some of the major research questions in SMA through our session summaries.
