High School Students Lead the Way at Concert for a Cure

The 15th Annual Concert for a Cure was held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, a the Diablo Country Club in Danville, CA and was a tremendous success raising over $150,000 for a treatment and cure. The evening was made rewarding for donor and families when Dr. John Day, Stanford Professor for Neurology, Pediatrics, and Pathology, highlighted the exciting advancements in SMA and the ISIS clinical trials along with Robert Blum, CEO, Cytokinetics.

The evening came to a halt when the teens stole the show this year with their donation to Cure SMA and presentation. Since 2009, Danny’s friends have been participating, singing, selling raffle tickets at the event and for the past three years have worked behind the scenes by hosting car washes, bake sales, hosted a home run derby and Twitter to raise funds for Cure SMA in honor of Danny and Ariana. This year’s check presentation by the teens was over $7,500.

Danny and Ariana spoke themselves about their wishes for a cure and more importantly, about living with SMA. They rocked the room and the Fund-A-Cure that followed and brought in close to $40,000. The evening concluded on an inspiringly high note!

Special thanks to the McHale and Dindzans Families for their continued support and dedication to Concert for a Cure.
