As we continue to quarantine and see a new wave of COVID-19 cases across the country, Cure SMA would like you to know that our work for the spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) community continues. We remain vigilant in our monitoring of the pandemic statistics and responding to the needs of the entire SMA community. Your health, safety, and well-being are our top priority.
After reviewing previous survey data and hearing directly from individuals with SMA on the difficulty in obtaining personal protective equipment (PPE), Cure SMA is pleased to launch a new support package to help individuals with SMA and their families get what they need during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This new COVID-19 PPE Package is a temporary program offering essential PPE items that may be costly and/or difficult to find in stores or online. Items in the COVID-19 PPE Package include:
- Antibacterial Wipes
- Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer Gel
- Disposable 3-ply masks
- Disposable Gloves
- Protective Face Shield
- Travel Tissue Packs
We hope the items included in the COVID-19 PPE Package will provide you with some added protection and temporarily ease a bit of the additional financial burden this pandemic has brought on to those who require these supplies while quarantining at home. We will provide the COVID-19 PPE Package to any household within the United States who has an individual diagnosed with SMA on a first come, first serve request basis as supplies last. Please note, this is a new offering, so individuals or families who previously received a COVID-19 Support Package that we launched last spring are eligible for the COVID-19 PPE Package.
