Team Cure SMA Celebrates Global Running Day!

Happy Global Running Day! Is Global Running Day a made-up holiday? Kind of. But unlike other made-up holidays dedicated to eating pancakes or taking selfies, Global Running Day has the purpose of celebrating running and encouraging people to get active. Today, we’d love for you to celebrate Global Running Day by joining or supporting Team Cure SMA!

Team Cure SMA is hosting 32 events across the country this year – including new cycling and triathlon events! Ranging from 5Ks to marathons, including those that are wheelchair-friendly, we have something for beginners and even the most seasoned athletes.

One of our stand-out events this year was the Reebok Ragnar Great Midwest Race which took place on Friday, May 17. Team Biogen successfully raised over $14,000 for Cure SMA while running in the 200-mile relay race starting in Waukegan, Illinois and finishing in Madison, Wisconsin over the course of 30 hours.

The all-star team included: Brian Bieller, Cari Henry-Holm, Chad Mierau, Dan Pucci, Danielle Conley, Derk Holder, Jeff Combs, Katie Heggemeier, Kim DeRobertis, Leanne Vaugh, Nate Greene, Sarah Jennison, Shane Dorfman, and Tracy Parker.

Team Cure SMA is an endurance program designed to connect runners and cyclists with Cure SMA. Team Cure SMA athletes from across the country can choose to participate in a variety of endurance events including wheelchair-friendly races.

It’s the perfect time to sign up and join Team Cure SMA in honor of Global Running Day! Have questions about upcoming races? Email Alyssa at [email protected]!
