Cure SMA Announces Cancellation of 2020 Annual SMA Conference and Research & Clinical Care Meeting

Cure SMA has been closely monitoring news and reports of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, allowing us to make decisions about local events and offer new resources that support the SMA community. The current status of the pandemic and associated governmental regulations, restrictions, and advisories, as well as the need to protect those with SMA who may be more vulnerable, has led Cure SMA to cancel its upcoming Annual SMA Conference and Research & Clinical Care Meeting that were scheduled for June 10-14, 2020, in Orlando, FL.

While we are disappointed, we know this is our best option and that the cancellation is necessary for the health, safety, and wellbeing of our attendees. Our decision to cancel these events for the first time in our 36-year history was not made lightly, as we all look forward to coming together from around the world at our Annual SMA Conference and ancillary. We recognize cancelling the largest gathering of those affected by SMA impacts many of you. Cure SMA remains committed to its mission and to serving our community, especially during the extraordinary global healthcare crisis that COVID-19 presents.

Please look out for more information on new online support and educational opportunities throughout the remainder of 2020.

If you registered for the 2020 Annual SMA Conference, you will receive an email by the end of the day on Thursday, April 9, with specific instructions and information regarding the cancellation process and refunds. Cure SMA is here to answer any questions you might have, and has compiled a list of the most common cancellation questions:
