Brian Chiorello is a Principal Service Delivery Manager at a financial services company near where he lives in Orlando, FL. He resides there with his wife and 3-year-old daughter. In the early 1990s, Brian had plans to join the Navy, but things changed when a naval doctor suspected something was not quite right.
“His suspicions led me on a two-year journey of tests, biopsies, and more to eventually receive a diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 3 at the age of 20,” shared Brian.
Self-described as a creative person who likes to find solutions to problems and overcome any obstacles, Brian used these traits to forge a new life path and a career opportunity at a financial services company. And while Brian has worked in the corporate world for more than 10 years, he also strives to be of service to the community.
“I want to give back to our community, while empowering people to do more. I do this by helping them find ways to customize their assistive devices,” said Brian. He believes this makes people feel more confident.

Because of this desire, Brian recently launched his own business, AchievMo.com, which creates custom disability products, including wheelchair caps, awareness coins, and more.
“In an effort to help others find ways to achieve more, we’re creating ways for people to customize their chairs and mobility devices to be cool, not clunky,” Brian shared.
Designing, creating, and developing customization to mobility devices is an integral part to AchievMo. Brian enjoys this because of its creativity and impact on disability awareness. “Getting started—knowing that you have a great product or service—and trying to get the exposure necessary to thrive is the hardest part of having your own business,” he shared.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted business for AchievMo and safe-guarding small businesses is an issue Brian finds important. “In Central Florida, we were targeting many wheelchair rental companies, the park districts, and more. However, with the reduction of travel and guests to Florida, this has slowed growth,” he said.
While business has slowed, Brian remains focused on the bigger picture. “Living with a disability, and one that is progressively getting worse, is not easy. However, living with a positive attitude and gratitude for all the things you have accomplished, finding your passion, and striving towards daily goals will provide the best outcome no matter who you are,” he shared.
