Team Cure SMA Runners Brave the Rain at the Chicago Half Marathon & 5K

Twenty Team Cure SMA runners braved the pouring rain and successfully raised over $12,000 for Cure SMA while running in the Chicago Half Marathon & 5K on September 29, 2019. Team Goin’ For Koen raised a recording breaking $9,000 for the race this year.

“We run to represent Cure SMA because they have been there for our family since our son was diagnosed with SMA. We have run for 4 years now at the Chicago Half Marathon/5K, and we’ve been blessed to have many friends and family members join our team each year. Koen is in a medical trial the was funded by Cure SMA so raising awareness and funds is our way of giving back to a charity that has helped our son so much,” Noel Guest, Team Captain, said.

Chicago Half Marathon & 5K is an annual half marathon and 5k run occurring in September on the South Side of Chicago. The race takes place on a largely out-and-back course along Lake Shore Drive with views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

Team Cure SMA is an endurance program designed to connect runners and cyclists with Cure SMA. Team Cure SMA athletes from across the country can choose to participate in a variety of endurance events including wheelchair-friendly races.
